There are 7 new cases in the Atlantic Bubble today, 5 in NS, 1 in NFLD, 1 in NB; NS & NB report 7 recoveries each. Ontario numbers are updated. This means there are 17 active cases in PEI, 57 in NS, 59 in NB and 23 in NFLD. In NS, 2 cases are in Central Zone. 1 is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada and is self-isolating as required. The other case is under investigation. 2 cases are in Western Zone and are close contacts of previously reported cases. 1 case is in Northern Zone and is a close contact of a previously reported case. In NS, 53/65 (82%) NS deaths are from Northwood and 57/65 (88%) are from long term care in general (11 different facilities have reported cases, none have an active case). Yesterday, 1209 tests were completed with 5 new cases reported.

"We will reach a milestone in the battle against COVID-19 this week with the arrival of the first doses of vaccine and the first vaccinations,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “This is great news, but it will take time for everyone to get their shots. That means we have to keep following the public health protocols – isolate when required, wear a mask, limit social contacts and travel, practice social distancing, stay home when feeling unwell and wash your hands.”

“We are seeing a shift in the epidemiology in our province. Most of our cases are related to travel or are a close contact of a previously reported case,” said Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health. “This highlights the risk of reintroduction of COVID-19 associated with non-essential travel. As we approach the holiday season, I encourage you to limit social contacts and non-essential travel and continue to follow all the other public health measures.”
